Saddam Hussein is captured in ad-Dawr, surrendering without incident.

December 14, 2003
The announcement of Hussein's arrest and details of his capture are broadcast worldwide.

A car bomb detonates at a Khaldiyah police station 60 km west of Baghdad, killing 17 and wounding 30.

December 15, 2003
Thousands of Saddam supporters march in rallies.

In Tikrit, about 700 people demonstrate yelling, "Saddam is in our hearts, Saddam is in our blood." US soldiers reportedly chant, "Saddam is in our jail."

Hundreds of residents objecting to Saddam's capture overrun the office of the US-appointed mayor in Fallujah, setting fire to the compound.

In the town of Ramadi, a crowd of 750 Saddam supporters repeatedly attacks coalition forces. One soldier is wounded before coalition forces kill three protesters and wound two more.

A US patrol north of Baghdad is attacked by roadside bombs and rocket-propelled grenades, and two Iraqi fighters are killed. Independent media reports claim those killed were demonstrators.
