New York (Jan. 10, 2005) - Kuma Reality Games, the company that blends news coverage with game technology to allow players to experience interactive re-creations of real military events, has designed its current online mission, Ramadi Convoy Exercise in conjunction with the Army's Combined Arms Support Command. The Army provided military insights, helping to ensure the accuracy of the re-creation so it could be used to train U.S. troops. The mission highlights one of the most dangerous and deadly scenarios American soldiers face in Iraq today – the IED (Improvised Explosive Device) attack.
"Kuma Reality Games is honored to be working with the U.S. Army," said Keith Halper, CEO Kuma Reality Games. "We are proud to be of assistance to them, and are excited to also be able to release these missions to our players to give them a real picture of what our soldiers are facing in Iraq every day."
In Ramadi Convoy Exercise players experience what it is like to be part of the twice-daily convoy operations trying to make their way to deliver material, food and ammunition to the troops on the frontlines in Ramadi, Iraq. Dubbed "the suicide train," and always a favorite for insurgents to attack, the exercise shows the dangers convoys face and the devastating effects of an IED attack, as players must use the same tactics, weapons and vehicles used in actual warfare to defeat the enemy and ensure the precious supplies make it to the troops on the frontlines.
Ramadi Convoy Exercise features explanations from the CEO of the United States Naval Institute, Major Gen. Thomas L. Wilkerson (ret), on how insurgents have been able to succeed in attacks against the world's most powerful force, with tactics such as IEDs. The missions also feature playable re-creations of convoy operations available in both single player 'patrol' and multiplayer 'convoy' mode.
In the coming weeks, subscribers will receive missions that re-create current combat in Fallujah and elsewhere in Iraq. Many of these new missions are being developed in cooperation with the U.S. military and soldiers returning from Operation Iraqi Freedom.
