Mission 32 - Overview
Fallujah: Operation al-Fajr (Dawn), Part 2

Our special thanks for the Marines and associates who helped us in preparing this mission, and to those still serving in Operation Iragi Freedom. It was a pleasure working (and playing) with you. We hope that this simulation is a faithful document of your actions, and a helpful learning tool for the future.

Fallujah, Iraq. November 8, 2004: In a final push to regain control of the violent Sunni city, more than 10,000 Marines, Army soldiers and Iraqi troops assault Fallujah. In this, Kuma's second al-Fajr mission, we follow the path of Marines of the 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment as they push their way into the neighborhood of Jolan, facing a hornets nest of enemy fire, prepared positions and booby traps. The Marines' job: investigate each and every structure for signs of the enemy in a deadly game of "whack a mole."

In the end, it was a stunning victory with an historically low casualty rate. In today's Kuma mission we'll look at the tactics employed by insurgent forces and the steps the Mariness took to defeat them. As Kuma Military Advisor Dan Snyder notes in the tactical section, it was a "cordon and knock REAL hard."

As a playable mission it is particularly challenging due to the number of IEDs and other booby traps. Be sure to watch this week's movie for a run-through of some of the traps you'll face. For multiplayer fans, try co-op mode first; you're going to need several set of eyes to mange this one unscathed.
